Hadrian's Villa: wonderful ruins of an imperial villa in the countryside

A really important archaeological area to understand the particular character of Hadrian, an architect, a philosopher, and an artist, not just an emperor. Villa Adriana (Hadrian’s Villa) is a large Roman villa built by the emperor Hadrian in the early second century AD. The villa was a sumptuous complex of over 30 buildings, covering an area of at least 100 hectares (c. 250 acres).  Still today, after almost 2000 years, you can breathe in the genius of the Roman constructions.

Villa d'Este: amazing display of water games

Villa d’Este, masterpiece of the Italian Garden, is included in the UNESCO world heritage list. With its impressive concentration of fountains, nymphs, grottoes, plays of water, and music, it constitutes a much-copied model for European gardens in the mannerist and baroque styles.

In just few hectares we will discover hundreds of fountains and waterworks. The music of the flow will accompany us from the interior of Cardinal Ippolito d'Este's residence to his magnificent gardens.
